GREEN DAY - A TRILOGY ENTITLED: ¡UNO!, ¡DOS!, AND ¡TRÉ!

LOS ANGELES, CA –2012 – Green Day began recording three studio albums – a trilogy entitled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! – released by Reprise Records (WarnerMusic Gallo Africa in SA) from Monday, September 24th 2012; Monday, November 12th 2012 and Monday, December 10th 2012 respectively.   The albums are the follow-up to the Grammy®Award-winning 21st Century Breakdown, and are being produced by the band’s long-time producer Rob Cavallo.   ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! were recorded in their hometown of Oakland, CA.

“We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives.  This is the best music we've ever written, and the songs just keep coming,” said the members of Green Day. “Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy.  Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels.  We just can't help ourselves... We are going epic as fuck!"

Green Day is vocalist/guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool.

ABOUT GREEN DAY

Green Day were kids from working-class backgrounds who came of age in the underground punk scene in Berkeley. Though they had already released two albums (1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk), the band truly announced its arrival with 1994's Dookie, a dynamic blast of exuberant punk-pop that sold 15 million copies and earned the band its first Grammy® Award for Best Alternative Music Performance. Over the years, Green Day continued to top the charts with the subsequent studio albums Insomniac, Nimrod, and Warning, while entertaining millions of fans with their frenetic live shows. But it was their landmark 2004 album American Idiot that launched Green Day into the stratosphere. American Idiot debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, spawned five hit singles, earned seven Grammy® nominations (winning two, including Best Rock Album), and raised the bar for modern rock and roll. In 2009, Green Day released 21st Century Breakdown, which won a 2010 Grammy® Award for Best Rock Album. It spawned two hit singles: the gold “Know Your Enemy,” which was the first song ever to top Billboard’s Rock, Alternative, and Mainstream Rock charts simultaneously, and the double-platinum “21 Guns,” which earned them three 2009 MTV Video Music Awards including Best Rock Video. Green Day also took home an American Music Award for Favorite Alternative Rock Music Artist. Later that year, Green Day collaborated with the Tony Award-winning director of Spring Awakening, Michael Mayer, for the stage musical American Idiot.  The play bowed at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in September 2009 and set attendance records during its limited engagement.  The play went on to Broadway and ran for a year at the St. James Theatre and won two Tony Awards.  The North American Tour of the stage musical is currently touring North America and will launch in the United Kingdom later this year.

Green Day - Uno  Green Day - Dos

What Music Review thought about it:

When I heard that Green Day had announced a trilogy of albums for release, I was nervous. Very nervous! I personally didn't enjoy 21st Century Breakdown very much, as I felt that the album paled in comparison to any of their earlier work, so my expectations for the announced trilogy were low...

What Music Review thought about it:

A few months ago, Green Day released ¡Uno! and I gave it a good rating. The album was everything Green Day had been missing for a long time, and now we turn to take a look at the second installment in the trilogy, ¡Dos!....

What Music Review thought about it:

While ¡Uno! was a good release, ¡Dos! fell flat on its face and we were left in doubts as to whether or not Green Day’s 2012 trilogy would be saved by ¡Tre!. I guess that you could say that the score is 1 – 1 and that ¡Tre! is the tie-breaker. But, in an unfortunate twist of fate, ¡Tre! is not the album that we were hoping it would be...
