Serj Tankian - Harakiri
Harakiri is the Japanese word for Ritualistic Suicide, not quite the name one would expect, but as Serj put it- The album was written in 2011, a year to him became one of the busiest years he has ever experienced, both in the production sense of his home studio and with his recording of Harakiri. Serj’s own way of describing the theme of this new album, Harakiri: "The Cornucopia of love/hate affairs with Gaia have made us scream "Figure It Out! CEOs are the disease." Where abusive capitalism's only fate is human/environmental devastation. The Ching Chime, diminutive drama of a gangsta Butterfly revealed that humanity's tears actually outweigh yearly rainfall on the planet.
Serj Tankian has shown no signs of stopping either. With his home based studio in LA and the networking of some of music’s heavy weight producers, we think that Harakiri will be one great addition to Serj’s Solo career.

Serj Tankian, the almost impossible to sing along to thanks to his innovative lyrics , front man from the opinionated alternative rock band, System Of A Down, has released a new solo album – Harakiri.
Serj said that 2011 started with a fire, a literal one actually, when his neighbour’s property was set alight with fireworks thrown by the neighbourhood kids. Serj knew it was going to be an exciting year, only to have the news reports of certain bird and fish species dying in massive numbers all over the world. With this in his mind, Serj created Harakiri, a politically, media-defying, truth-telling album about the fate of humanity and the fate of our world.
